The messenger aircraft sent to mercury back in 2004 sped past Mercury on Jan 14. The flyby produced lot of pictures of the planets unseen part. An earlier mission had only covered 75% of the planet’s surface. The latest picture shows a spider like depression on its surface raising the curiosity of the scientists. This spider formation is believed to be evidence to volcanic activities or shrinking of the planet. Unlike the moon Mercury has many large cliffs and also hundreds of snake like formations for miles. The scientists at NASA are analyzing the pictures to know more about the still unknown planet.
